Lilian is a spirited ten-year-old living in Belarus. Desperate for work, Lilian’s parents have traveled to another city and left the children behind with their grandmother.

Grandmother Marina does beautiful embroidery, so Lilian and her sister sell it at a local market. One day, a man trades them for a box of disposable cameras. Lilian gives the cameras to orphan girls and asks them take pictures about their lives. Lilian’s dream is to put the photos in a city newspaper to call attention to the issues of children left behind.
